An excellent guide for tweens and early teens to understand themselves as they arrive in puberty. It covers everything they need to know hormones, body changes, the inner seasons, fun projects, help for period pain, gentle yoga moves, emotional intelligence and mindfulness all in a gentle, accessible way. It can be hard for parents to find a way in to help prepare before periods start, and to manage the first year of menstruation. My Dear Period has a charming, light touch that provides reassurance and education in spades.

‘This is Maya. I am donating 5% of all the proceedings from the launch of my book to her. She is ten years old and a victim of the Yazidi genocide. Maya suffers from an incurable and very rare skin condition, which requires a special cream to make her pain bearable. She is in a Yazidi refugee camp in Northern Iraq, under the medical care of the Amar Foundation. The money will be used to buy the cream.

So, every time you buy my book you are not helping the girls closest to you but Maya as well’

With love and gratitude, Elena
